Graduation

Graduation was a blast! I always say no matter how much we practice for this fun end of the year event, crazy things happen! It is what it is. It's preschool, so it's filled with kiddos crying out for their mommy during the performance, children doing flips on stage while teachers are stressing out over a possible injury, lots of laughter and tears. I personally enjoyed one of the preschoolers so much I laughed so hard I teared up! I love this age and I feel so lucky to work with such amazing children and families! We had a fantastic year and we wish all of our graduates and their families the very best!

God bless

Graduation

There are 2 days of preschool left can you believe it! This year has gone by so fast and we are preparing to send our Pre-K students to kindergarten. This is an exciting, but sad time. We have tried very hard to set every child up for success. I hope every preschooler will take with them some of the important details they have learned in preschool such as: eating all their healthy foods first at lunch time ; ) and saying a prayer or two throughout the day... tick tock tick tock it's time to say our prayers, tick tock tick tock it's time to say our prayers. We thank God for our food and wish for peace and happiness for children all over the world Amen (That is one of the favorite lunch time prayers)!

Most of all we hope every child and family has enjoyed their time at Faith. We are a small, but loving group and I guarantee the last day of school will be emotional for a lot of us!

Like the little hermit crab, you outgrew your shell,
and now you’re ready to say goodbye. I can tell.
You’ve learned a lot of things, and when you open the next door
you’ll have new friends and a new school to explore.
Knowing and teaching you has been a pleasure,
Memories of you I will always treasure.

Jammin with Mr. Nick

We are very lucky to have a cool DCE (Director of Christian Education) at Faith! Mr. Nick came down to hang with us at the preschool for music hour. He can sing and play the guitar! The children adore him and were so excited to have him at the preschool. We usually see Nick on Wednesdays in the chapel, but last Thursday he came to jam with us!

Teaching the young child

The other day I was asked what I do. I smiled and said I am a teacher/director! What grade do you teach? I teach preschool. Oh? Why is that the response that some people give I often wonder this? I graduated from a great university! I studied child development. My plan was to learn all I could about children and families and then teach the young child. I do not have interest in teaching older children. As any teacher will tell you when you find the age that's right for you, you just know. Any high school teacher will tell me I must have extreme patience and I say the same thing to them. I believe it is a true gift to be a preschool teacher and I know the staff at Faith feel the same way. We are blessed to work with young children!

The other day one of the father’s of a preschooler was standing at the front door waiting for his child to finish what she was working on. He was heading to work, but was waiting for his preschooler to give him something. I watched for a minute and then asked what she was doing? The father looked at me and said she is drawing a butterfly; she draws one for me every morning. What a great way to start the day and such a gift to have a child love you that much! My joy is that I get to spend all day with this child and 41 other amazing children just like this!

Preschool is such a joy and I can’t think of a happier place to be!

Spring is here!

Spring is finally here! One of the preschoolers recently said "Ms. Darcy I hate the rain it's spoiling all of our fun." After two weeks of almost non-stop rain I had to laugh and agree with him. On a brighter note we have enjoyed some beautiful, sunny days! The children are able to use the playground again and it really makes a difference in the mood at preschool.

Spring is a fun, but busy time. We are finishing assessments and getting ready to say goodbye to our pre-k children. They have grown so much in just one year and now it is almost time for us to send them to the "big school" for kindergarten. Some of the preschoolers will be staying at Faith for kindergarten and it will be such a blessing to continue to watch them grow.

Some upcoming events to look forward to:
4/30 Preschool work day and BBQ
Fair Oaks parade

5/20 Parent's Night Out

See you there

Crab Feed March 12th, 2011

The crab feed was so much fun! The food was delicious and the company was fabulous! The preschool staff enjoyed a wonderful night out thanks to the Berg family! We have so many amazing families and children at our preschool! The crab feed was a reminder of how supportive our families truly are! All the staff feel so blessed to be part of such a fantastic program!
